Canadian aerospace company seeks skilled workers
Canada's CanWest News Service (9/2, Whittaker) reported that Fannie Jacques, human resources director for Bombardier Inc.'s "new family of commercial aircraft, the C Series,...knows her employer will need a lot of skilled workers in the next few years." She said that the company will peak "at 3,500 people," which is "good news for anyone who's been pondering a career in the skilled trades" in Canada. Jacques said that "workers in the skilled trades will be hired in earnest for the C Series by early 2011," but the "the company currently has 630 job openings in Montreal for its other projects." While "most are in the engineering and financial field," she noted that the company does "have 100 production (skilled trades) jobs that need to be filled." Jacques, added that she "is preparing to take her [recruiting] team to career fairs and schools in the coming two months to spread the word that the company needs skilled workers."
