Boeing 787 To Fly Soon

The Seattle Post Intelligencer (12/6, Cohen) reported Boeing aims to fly the 787 Dreamliner "on or around" December 15. The company recently announced the aircraft had completed the static test necessary to "validate the side-of-body fix, but would not complete a detailed analysis to confirm the test results for 10 days." Boeing executives have "repeatedly pledged" to get the jet in the air by the end of this year

The Wall Street Journal (12/7, Sanders) reports that after Boeing gets the 787 up in the air, it will still need to conduct testing in extreme condition scenarios. Any potential error here could delay the 787's certification by the FAA and jeopardize target dates for customers..
