Alabama group aims to prepare workforce for aviation, manufacturing job
Alabama's Sand Mountain Reporter (4/3, Green) reports that the Workforce Alabama Foundation Inc.,
"a nonprofit group formed in February to promote and support workforce development in fields of aviation,
advanced manufacturing, and the life sciences," has emerged as a player in "Albertville's drive to become the aviation training capital of North Alabama."
According to the Reporter, Albertville "is about to establish an interim aviation training center near the regional airport"
that will "eventually become the North Alabama Campus of the Alabama Aviation College."
In addition, a local "aircraft completion center started modifying U.S. Navy helicopters at the airport with plans to expand."
For those reasons, the Workforce Alabama Foundation was formed. John Marshall, executive director of the foundation,
said that "the charter of the organization is to enhance and engender technical education as a means for workforce development throughout the region."
Marshall said the foundation intends to "partner with community colleges in the region to enhance and increase their technical skills.
