Despite Large Sale, Some Concerned About Airbus A380's Prospects
The Los Angeles Times (6/14, Hennigan) reports that because of the Emirates Airline's order for 32 Airbus A380s, "production lines will be humming through the end of 2017 and could represent a boon to more than 80 suppliers in California." However some analysts note there will still be "lingering concerns about the A380's long-term prospects" because there are no US carriers. The article notes, "Airbus' reliance on Emirates harkens back to when Boeing Co.'s 747 jumbo jet first took to the skies in the early 1970s," so "supporters are hoping for a similar outcome after years of setbacks including production problems that delayed delivery of the aircraft to airlines by several years."
Gallois Denies EADS Will Work With Embraer. Reuters (6/13) reported EADS CEO Louis Gallois denied claims that it would work with Embraer in order to compete with Bombardier's CSeriers.
