GAO finds no criminal wrongdoing in tanker contract award

Lawmakers say they want the Pentagon to provide a detailed explanation of problems with the Air Force's award of an aerial refueling contract to a team led by Northrop Grumman. Earlier this week, officials announced they would reopen bidding for the contract. "This isn't the first time the acquisition system has failed," said Rep. Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawaii, chairman of a House Armed Services subcommittee. Lawmakers want to know if flaws are confined to the Air Force or if they spread throughout the DOD.
